April Updates and our next live meetup on Zoom
Plus, it's my birthday this weekend, so here's a discount on a paid subscription!
I hope you all had a lovely, long weekend. Our kids are still on school holidays for another week, so I’m typing this with the sound of bickering kids and Sabrina Carpenter blasting on the speaker in the other room. 🤪
My birthday is this Sunday and we’re having a party at our house to celebrate. I wasn’t going to have a party because it’s not great timing with school holidays, and our house is small and life is busy… but…YOLO! I’m turning 44 and it’s my favourite number, so we’re doing it. I’ve told everyone the dress code is op shop fashion, which means you have to wear something from the op shop. It can be something trendy, something outrageous, something a bit fancy - whatever! I’m actually so excited. (I’m thinking about wearing this purple flapper dress I found at the op shop last week. Fun, right?)
Because it’s my birthday, I also wanted to offer a 20% discount on a paid subscription this week only. Click here to redeem the discount and upgrade to paid. Paying members receive all new posts (and access to the full archive, including dozens of recipes, tutorials and wonderful interviews!), plus you get to join our monthly Zoom meetups, which are my favourite.
Last week we escaped for a little family holiday. We spent the first few days camping in Bellingen, a cute little town a few hours south, and then we had a few days at our beach house in Minnie Water, sandwiched in between Airbnb guests. It felt so nice to get away. I brought my new (old) film camera with me and can’t wait to get the film developed. I am really enjoying re-learning film photography, and also just having the excuse to slow down and notice my surroundings. Quin got a film camera for his 18th birthday last week, so we’ve been learning together.
I managed to do lots of reading with my flashlight as we all curled up in our tent early each evening. I finished Horse by Geraldine Brooks, and loved it. (This was a recommendation from my mum, who also recommended Geraldine Brook’s other book, March, which I am keen to read next.)
I thought it would be fun to meet on Zoom to chat about books. I’d love to hear what you’ve been reading lately and what’s on your list to read. Let’s meet up next week on Wednesday, April 30th at 7am my time (AEST). Click the link below to add the Zoom link and date to your calendar.
