My birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and it always happens that my birthday comes just as the weather starts to get cooler here and I start looking into my closet wondering what on earth to wear! During the hot, humid summer months, getting dressed is basically an exercise in putting on the least amount of clothing in the lightest fabrics possible. But then comes autumn and I suddenly care a little bit more about clothes because you get to layer up and wear real outfits. Fun!

Every year, I like to buy myself a few new things with the money my parents give me for my birthday. It’s really the only time of the year I treat myself to something new for my wardrobe. I thought it might be fun to share what I’ve been eyeing lately. I’ve included a few affiliate links where I can, which means I will make a small commission if you buy…

I love these pleated cotton trousers from Toast. They look so easy to wear and to dress up or down. (I’ve had a few pairs of trousers from Toast over the years and they’re always such a great fit.) I love the striped knitted singlet too!

I just love a vest for all the layering possibilities. I love the loose fit of this one from my favourite knitwear brand, Babaà and that colour is so versatile too.

I love following Clara Infante on Instagram (she’s also here on Substack!). She always wears the best relaxed-but-stylish outfits, mixing vintage and new pieces so well. I’ve started looking in the men’s shirts section of our local op shops for striped shirts and have found a few good ones! Can’t wait to layer them under vests like in Clara’s photo above.

I’ve been eyeing off this parka from Sézane for a couple of years now. Last year, I got the longer trench and I love it — and I think this parka with the big hood would be perfect for rainy weather or just extra warmth in the winter. (I love the fold back button feature at the arms and the inner check fabric.)

Am I the last person to catch on to the loafer trend? I love the look of these shoes for Autumn/Winter either without socks or worn with little ankle socks. I actually discovered Bared Footwear on Instagram and have been eyeing their shoes for a while now.
