Sheree Commerford Shares 5 Things She's Loving Right Now
A podcast, a TV series, a lip balm, a fashion brand and the perfect pair of everyday overalls...
My friend Sheree Commerford is one of the most inspiring and creative people I know. This mother of two is always juggling at least a few different creative projects at any given time, and everything she touches turns to gold and has that certain Sheree aesthetic. She recently restored an old 1940s seaside cottage in Yamba, NSW, turning it into a beautiful, Mediterranean-inspired inn, Il Delfino. (Each room of this hotel is bursting with thoughtful touches and clever details. Please go take a peek for a good ‘ol fix of inspiration!) She is also the talented designer behind the brand, Canvs Bottega, which offers a small but beautiful selection of products from the most flattering one piece swimsuit to the perfect pair of overalls.
You can catch Sheree in the midst of moving house, grocery shopping or at a school meeting, and she still somehow exudes that effortless style — minimal fuss, maximum cool. She has a way of throwing things together that just works. And beyond the style and the smarts, she’s warm, funny, and one of those rare people who makes you feel instantly at ease.
I was so excited when she agreed to share five things she’s loving right now. Here they are…
WEARING
Chanel Lip Balm
This is by far the number one beauty product I always have in my bag. I’m low-fi with beauty but this is a lip balm that is yet to be beaten. Also one of my favourite gifts to give — at $55 it’s a little bit of magic.
DREAMING
Suzie Kondi
I love Suzie, everything about her. She’s from Noosa but now a New Yorker and for me really has defined a coastal/city hybrid of effortless chic. Classic, never trying. I’m always dreaming about her bloomers and cashmere.
WATCHING
1923
The second season recently dropped and now it’s done and dusted, I would say this is the perfect one to binge. I’ve fallen out of the Taylor Sheridan fan club since Landman and the last couple of Yellowstone seasons, but this one I can say is a bonafide winner.
LIVING
Workwear Overall
Had to add this in — I wear mine literally every day. I collaborated with B Corp denim brand Outland Denim, to make a piece that I could work, live and play in. No fuss. The best thing about their supply chain: by wearing these overalls, you support a business model designed to uplift young women (and men) out of modern slavery and vulnerability, through investment in training, life skills, economic empowerment, and opportunity.
LISTENING
If You’re Listening
This is an ABC podcast by Matt Bevan. A very easy listen — 20-minute episodes about the biggest stories happening or have happened in the world. Each ep is like a crash course in politics or history, told in a very entertaining and informative way. Strongly suggest it if you’re trying to make sense of US politics — this is the one. Very funny and very clever and very true.
